Getting Sober

Recovery is not a horizon-to-horizon superhighway. There are lots of tricky detours. Lots of ruts; lots of bumps. Lots of flat tires-and flat moods. Lots of running out of gas. The good thing is that you don't have to ride it in a covered wagon. And you don't have to pioneer it. Hundreds of thousands of once "hopeless drunks" and "depraved addicts" have followed this road before you. Instead of dying of cancer or cirrhosis of the liver or of a stroke, they've survived to tell their tales - to share with you the lessons of their setbacks and the celebrating of their successes.

These are the goals of recovery, and of SouthCoast's program. You can't achieve them by waving a magic wand, by popping a magic pill, or even by being in our program for a few months, you've got to want to do new things with your life. If you're accustomed to immediate gratification, the slow process of recovery may at first be difficult to comprehend. But if you think about it you will remember that you didn't get into trouble with alcohol and/or drugs overnight. And you can't put the pieces of your life back together between sundown and sunup either.

Step by step, SouthCoast Recovery will guide you through the rocky route to recovery, with each section of the program taking you a giant step further.
