Effects of Alcohol Addiction

Written on: March 24th, 2009 By:

Your alcohol or drug addiction has taken control of you and you have lost sight of who you truly are. Your family doesn’t recognize that person you’ve become. Forsaking them for the drugs and alcohol, you have chosen people that feed your addiction. Misery loves company, and people who abuse drugs and alcohol flock together. When you start your drug rehab program you will experience a new kind of relationship.

You will meet people that truly do want to see you succeed. You will meet with professionals that have only your recovery in mind. You will go through drug detox that will cleanse your body of the impurities that have built up over the years of extended drug use. Once you have gone through detox, you will feel different and your body will be ready to take in nutrients that it has been robbed of for so long.

With your nutritional needs being met your emotional ones will soon follow. Undoubtedly while detoxing you will have thoughts that make you want your drugs more than sobriety. Once you have beat the physical withdrawal; you will recognize that it was your minds addiction that was clouding your thoughts with negativity. Mental cleansing is part of rehabilitation and fighting the demons that you are running from is part of your recovery.

When you love yourself enough to enter into a drug treatment center for help with your addiction or maybe addictions; you need to love yourself enough to make sure that you afford yourself a center that is going to give you the care you need to get you out of your darkest hours. Don’t let your addiction convince you that it is more important than the people you care for. Don’t let your addiction be more important than you.
