If you’re searching for a drug rehab program that actually works, you’ve probably run into thousands of web pages and have become possibly even more confused than before.
We can help. Our team of addiction professionals have experience in working with thousands of families over the years to help people end addiction. Throughout this time we have identified three main components that are common in all successful drug rehab programs.
One is that there is not a set period of time. Longer-term is something that we recommend but the exact length of time is not definite. It is impossible to say all people can recover in 30 days, 90 days, or any predetermined number of days. An individualized approach is better.
The second factor is that there is something done to help handle the physical damage caused by the alcohol or other drugs. This can come in the form of exercise, nutritional therapy, daily supplements, extended drug rehab programs and body cleansing. The idea is to make a person feel better physically so they can have the mental energy to address the real problems that need solutions.
The last main component is that it is ultimately drug-free. While many facilities use a tapering process or short term drug replacement during initial detox and withdrawal, the end result should be that there are no more drugs being given. This not only includes not giving maintenance drugs to opiate addicts, but also the prescription drugs for different symptoms like psychiatric medication. It is plainly impossible for someone to fully recover when they are still on drugs – period. By definition they have just switched drugs. This is not meant to put anyone down who felt some type of relief from these prescriptions, only that they too have heavy side effects and may even create a heavy dependency.
