Getting sober - Not a spectator sport

Written on: February 13th, 2009 By:

No one can do the heavy lifting for in a drug addiction treatment center. Some exclusive drug addiction treatment centers in California would have you believe that getting sober is a passive experience, or a spectator sport. But that’s not the way it works. True, the help you get from expert caregivers in a drug addiction treatment facility will be instrumental in helping you muster the strength you need to get where you need to go. But the going is ultimately up to you—and anyone who tells you otherwise has badly misunderstood the nature of the drug recovery process.

Drug addiction is an inherently personal disease. No one else has experienced drug dependency quite the same way you have. By the same token, your drug rehab experience will be uniquely your own. The best drug rehab treatment facility is the one that empowers its patients, by helping them develop the skills they’ll need to help themselves. Beyond that, it’s up to the patients to shape their own destinies. Here’s hoping you can find the courage to make the future a brighter and more hopeful thing.
